The Bracelet of Bordeaux is a low-budget independent children’s movie produced in The Woodlands, Texas, under Eakin Films’ “Community Model of Filmmaking”, similar to a community theatre production. We brought together 200 amateur child actors, professional adult actors and crew, parents, and the business community and government organizations to produce a children’s book/movie combo that promoted literacy. The DVD was inserted into the front cover of the book — encouraging kids to “read the book, then watch the movie”. Our debut product was a success at Barnes & Noble in 2007, and then received a theatrical run and international film distribution in 2009.
